World No Tobacco Day

World No Tobacco Day was observed on May 31, 2025 with the objective of raising awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and promoting  efforts to reduce tobacco consumption

Theme: Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics.

On June 2, 2025, to mark No Tobacco Day, the 7th-semester B.Sc. Nursing students of BUEST Nursing College organized a rally to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption. In collaboration with the Glenmark RCH Centre Baddi, the rally began at Labour Chowk and culminated at CHC Baddi. During the event, the students actively interacted with the public, educating them about the severe health risks associated with tobacco use.

Under the guidance of Ms. Shivani Sharma (Assistant Professor) and Ms. Anjula (Nursing Tutor), the students extended their outreach by conducting educational sessions within the local community. These sessions focused on the harmful effects of tobacco, its associated side effects, and effective prevention strategies to reduce tobacco use.

Additionally, the nursing students visited Government Middle School, Makhnumajra, where they led an informative session for children, emphasizing the importance of adopting a tobacco-free lifestyle and the long-term health benefits of staying tobacco-free.

As part of a broader health education initiative, the B.Sc. 2nd-semester performed an engaging role play at ESIC Hospital KathaMs Alka (Nursing Superintendent) was also present during the role play. This interactive session was designed to educate hospital patients and visitors about the harmful chemicals in tobacco and the associated health risks. The performance also provided vital information on quitting tobacco and highlighted the various support systems available to individuals seeking to quit.

Guided by Ms. Pallvi Dogra (Assistant Professor) and Ms. Jyoti (Nursing Tutor), the 2nd-semester students also engaged with the local community through awareness campaigns, further reinforcing the message of the dangers of tobacco and the importance of prevention.

The program concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by the students of BUEST Nursing College, who expressed sincere gratitude to all the participants and attendees for their valuable presence and contributions in making the event a resounding success.”
