About Department
The Department of Information Technology at IEET was established in the year 2002 It thrives on the aspirations to meet the horizons of sheer success and explore the perfection in order to generate an able and efficient breed of youngsters in the field. After pursuing B.Tech there is a great scope and opportunity to work in top level IT companies and consultancy firms.

The Information Technology Department here at BUEST emphasizes on the project based learning which improvises the simulation of the technology in the real life problems leading to the continuous growth of the field as well as the individual. The theoretical learning along with Practical knowledge strengthens the foundation of the budding IT fresher's and inculcate innovative attitude amongst them to cope up with the new trends of the dynamic IT industry.

B.TECH (INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY)

COURSE OUTLINE
The B.Tech course is a four year program consisting of eight semesters. The curriculum covers subjects like Discrete Structures, Object Oriented Methods & Programming, Operating system, Internet fundamentals & Web Designing, Microprocessor Theory & Applications, Computer Networks (Novell Netware), Software Engineering, Data Storage and Management System, Computer Graphics, Digital Communication, Artificial Intelligence, Multimedia, Cryptography & Network security, Net Framework Lab, Unix Linux Administration, Management Information System, Modeling & Simulation, Web Technology, Data Warehousing & Data Mining, Distributed System. Apart from these subjects, students can also select from the elective subjects like Software Maintenance, Mobile Databases, Software Project Management, Soft Computing, Software Verification, Validation & Testing, E-Governance, E-commerce & ERP, Professional Issues in IT, Bioinformatics, Digital Image Processing, Object Oriented Software Engineering, Relational Database Management System, Distributed Operating Systems, Advanced Database System, Parallel Computing, Mobile Adhoc Networks, Digital Signal Processing

The Department comprises of three well equipped laboratories viz.
  • Multimedia Technology Lab.
  • Artificial Intelligence Lab.
  • Computer Networks & Hardware Lab.
SOFTWARES USED IN LABORATORIES
  • The Multimedia Technology Lab. Is equipped with Window SP 3/Window 7., Visual Studio-2010, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Flash Pro. CS5, Oracle-11G,, Code gear C++ and Microsoft office-2007.
  • The Artificial Intelligence Lab is equipped with WINDOWS 2000 PROFESSIONAL, TURBO C++, JAVA, VB 6.0, TURBO PROLOG.
  • The Computer Networks & Hardware Lab is equipped with LAN Trainer kit, LAN Testers, DSL 1500 G++ Router and other tools used for Networking.

Er. Tanvi Arora did her B.Tech in CSE in 2002 from Punjab Technical University. She started her career as a lecturer at IEET,Baddi in 2003. She completed her M.Tech from Punjab Technical University in the year 2008. She has over 9 years of teaching experience. She has written a number of research papers. She is a member of ISTE & has been associated with a number of extra curricular activities.
