About Department
Department of Civil Engineering; established in the year 2008,under the aegis of Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology, Baddi, can boast of its state of the art infra-structure, well equipped laboratories, an exclusive computer lab with latest civil Engineering softwares and not to mention the vastly experienced faculty having international exposure to their credit.

The aim of the department is to impart quality education and groom budding civil engineers to be effective contributor to the society, nation and the world as a whole. At present department runs four year programme leading to the award of bachelor’s degree in civil Engineering and has plans to start M.Tech.programmes in very near future.

Faculty as well students in the department, are encouraged to keep themselves abreast with latest advancements in the field of civil Engineering through various activities at academic front. Department provides ample opportunities to its students for developing their organization skills and personality development through various extra-mural and co-curricular activities as well.

B.TECH: (CIVIL ENGINEERING)

COURSE OUTLINE
Civil Engineering imparts technical education in the field of Surveying, Soil/Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Analysis, Design of Concrete/Steel Structures, Irrigation Engineering , Highway /Transportation Engineering , Water Supply / Sewerage , Hydraulics, Earthquake Engineering , Dams , Construction Planning & Management and Principles of Economics/Management etc.

HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT
Dr Ajay Goyal - Ph.D in Environment Engineering (Concrete Technology) from Tottori University, Tottori (Japan) with Master’s in Civil Engineering (Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engg.) from Punjab University. Prior to taking up the present assignment of Professor and Head in the Civil Engineering Department of Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology; Dr Goyal has served MMU Group of Institutions as Professor & Head, Civil Engineering Department and Lovely Professional University as Dean Engineering. He has the distinction of being on the elite panel of International Consultants’ Team of PES Kenchiku Kankyo Sekkei Ltd, Nagoya (Japan); a leading architectural and environment Consultants with its base in Japan and US. Having work experience of more than 23 years in the field of teaching, education and industry; his areas of expertise are concrete materials and Geotechincal Engineering and has published his research work in 23 peer reviewed journals and conferences at International and National level.

First batch of B.Tech Civil Engineering is going to pass out in July 2012 and already students are being prepared to meet the specific needs of the industry. B.Tech students are in great demand and are accepted by various multinational/national organizations, PSU’s, State and Central Govt. Departments and by Engineering /Technical Universities.
CONSULTANCY PROJECTS
Catering to the needs of Industry and society, experienced faculty takes up various consultancy projects on material testing, Soil/Geological Investigations and Environment consultancy. To name a few, it has completed the work of 220 KV substations at Nalagarh, TechnoElectric and Engineering Co.Ltd; Kolkata and a consultancy project of M/S JMD Constructions and M/S Case Cold Roll Forming Limited, Kala Amb.
